The Costume Institute Gala at the MET is an annual ball that celebrates the  opening of the fashion exhibit at the Costume Institute.  This year was in tribute to the late Alexander McQueen and followed what was the ultimate exposure of that Wedding Dress in London.

The red carpet for this event was by far one of the best I have ever seen, not only was it the A-list of all A-list in attendance, it was also some of the most amazing and interesting outfits that I've seen this year. It's refreshing to see a red carpet which is so inspiring. There was a definite theatrical element to the whole event and as Natalia Vodianova reported, "Certain pieces were almost torturous in a way. I saw so many girls almost faint backstage." The drama of Alexander McQueen was definitely reflected in the red carpet.

Here are some of my absolute favourites, but it was all pretty amazing. Just remember: More is More

Penelope Cruz in Oscar de la Renta w/ ODR
Gisele in Alexander McQueen
Natalia Vodianova in Valentino w/ the man himself

Naomi Watts in Stella McCartney

I am loving everything about this. The jumper, the fur.
Jenna Lyons. Eddie Borgo.Arizona Muse. in Altuzarra w/ designer

And finally. The drama.
Anna dello russo in Alexander McQueen
