Wednesday Want - Deny Everything

Winter Denials

Winter Denials by joanjude featuring a cropped blazer

WoW. Some so called friend of mine hit me straight the other day. Apparently on Joanjude there is some denials being thrown about. (can you throw a denial?) Of the Winter variety. Tough times, I guess that token raincoat didn't really cut it. It is true, anyone would know that I am all about the Summer months and don't really cope with layer upon layer upon coat upon layer of winter garb. It's just not my thing. However I do need to get inspired so here are a few desirables for your mid week inspiration.

I'll concede defeat with:
- High waisted Michael Kors wool blend pants

- A crisp white shirt

- Ducted heating

One of my favourite books is In Cold Blood by Truman Capote and so you can probably guess that I almost died when I stumbled across this gem in Sunday afternoon hunting. Basically (and clearly I'm paraphrasing) the story goes, Capote wrote In Cold Blood and made quite a bit of money out of it's success. Instead of taking this in a humble manner he decides to throw what has been termed (and this is not a paraphrase) THE PARTY OF THE CENTURY. Love it.

There is definitely something about Truman Capote that makes you squirm, obviously his trademark high pitched voice doesn't help the situation but it's definitely more than that. I. Just. Can't quite put my finger on it. Anyway the story goes that Truman Capote threw the party for his publisher Kay Graham and all the celebrity greats of the time showed up.  Three president's daughters, Jackie Kennedy's sister and Frank Sinatra and Mia Farrow, all at the Plaza Hotel, all night long. I can't imagine a writer of this age inspiring such an iconic event.

Decisions Decisions

Lark & Wolff By Steven Alan Rain Slicker

I'm having some serious buyers stress! Urban Outfitters is offering 25% off and free shipping ending tomorrow and I need a raincoat.  What a boring purchase. No one can make a raincoat cool but this one below is definitely on its way. Also I need a bike riding outfit that doesn't make my housemates look away in shame when I walk out the door.  Even a woman was shaking her head from a car today.  [Let's just say in involves hand-me-down polarfleece and an off white/yellowy rain breaker] Bad times.

So raincoat. Check. Now what else can I get to make up the quota to qualify for discount? Here's my wishlist.....
